Is the 2020 Portland Boulder Rally happening?

Sadly no. This year’s Rally has been cancelled due to COVID-19. Stay safe and strong out there. We miss you.

How do I pick a competition category?

Please be as fair as possible in judging your own abilities to compete in the appropriate category. Anyone we deem to be in an unfair category will be bumped up to the next category of difficulty before announcing the results.

Youth may sign up for any category, but your participation will not count toward your USAC requirements unless you compete in the USAC Youth morning session.

If you would like to request a category change after registering, please contact pbr [at] thecircuitgym.com. Please note that you may NOT change your category after September 29, 2019.

Where should I stay if I’m coming from out of town?
First off, we’d like to be the first to say “Welcome to Portland!” If you’re traveling from afar you are welcome to join our hotel block at a the Courtyard Marriott Tigard, located within walking distance from The Circuit Bouldering Gym Tigard. Directions HERE.

To reserve a room, simply book online HERE or call the Courtyard Marriott Tigard at (503) 684-7900, mention the “Portland Boulder Rally” and you will receive our special discounted group rate of $109/night for a double queen room or king room. Safe travels, and we look forward to seeing you at the Rally!
What is the competition format?

USAC, Session 1 & Session 2 are Red Point Style. Each boulder problem has a unique point value commensurate to its level of difficulty. Points are gained only if the climb is completed. Competitors may attempt climbs up to 10 times per problem. The top 5 climbs count toward your score. Flashes and number of attempts will be taken into account for tie-breakers.

The rules meeting held 15 minutes prior to the start of each climbing session will go over more rules in detail. This meeting is required to ensure a safe and fair competition.

Finals consists of the top 6 men and the top 6 women from the Open category. Finalists receive a 2 minute preview before each problem, then they have 4+ minutes per problem. Scoring – in order of importance – is based on tops, flashes, and percent complete.

What is your refund policy?
Full refunds will be allowed on a case-by-case basis if permission is requested before September 29, 2019. Refunds are not permitted after September 29, 2019. If you would like to request a refund, please contact pbr [at] thecircuitgym.com.
When do I get my raffle tickets and/or Finals tickets I purchased with registration?
You will receive ALL additional items purchased at registration during check-in.
Check out the Compete Page for check-in times.
What should I expect to do as a volunteer?
First off, thank you for your interest in volunteering! We couldn’t do it without you. We rely on volunteers primarily to judge during the USAC youth competition, Session 1 and Session 2. You do NOT have to have previous judging experience – the volunteer meeting before each shift will go over everything you’ll need to know. Other volunteer duties also include preparation assistance on Friday, festival assistance on Saturday, and teardown assistance on Sunday. Visit the Compete to sign up!
Can I climb at The Circuit Tigard the week of PBR?
Competitors may NOT visit the Tigard gym the week leading up to PBR to ensure a fair competition. However, the Northeast and Southwest Circuit gyms will be open and available to all competitors. Click on either gym name for address and directions.
Where can I park?

There is ample parking available at The Circuit Tigard and neighboring businesses. Just follow the “PBR Parking” signs. The Circuit is also conveniently located on the TriMet bus line 76.

New Lyft users can take advantage of our promo code “PBR2019” for a discount. Enter the code in your app to redeem. Or receive $50 credit toward Getaround by visiting get.co/rentboulder. New users only for both promotions.

We encourage carpooling and designated drivers. Please drink responsibly.

How do I know if I won a raffle prize, and do you ship prizes?
Thanks for entering our event raffle! While you do not need to be present to win, we do not ship raffle prizes. Raffle winners will be contacted the week after the event and can pick up (or arrange a pickup for) their raffle prizes at The Circuit Bouldering Gym Tigard anytime until October 31, 2019. After October 31 your raffle prize will be donated to a local charity.
Where do I find results for all categories?

After our appeals window, we have released official results on Facebook as well as the Results page. 1st-3rd place finalists in each category will be notified and may pick up their prizes at The Circuit Tigard or request that their prize be shipped by emailing pbr [at] thecircuitgym.com (must live over 40 miles from The Circuit Tigard).
